Greenwich Council Street Trading Consultation

EGBA has been lobbying Greenwich Council to defend the right of businesses to put displays outside their frontages, without being charged for the privilege. A petition with more than 2000 signatures was handed into the Council on the 30th October 2013 objecting to the 'street trading charges' - a damaging, one-size-fits-all tax brought in by Greenwich Council without consultation.

Finally, the Council responded to our lobbying and launched a formal consultation on the matter. The result of the consultation has resulted in the development of a revised Street Trading Policy which was approved by the Director of Community Safety & Environment in September 2014.
